Families Needing Farmers

The Families Needing Farmers campaign has been designed to help raise awareness about NSW faming practices and the families who live on the land. By raising awareness, the campaign seeks to bridge the growing divide between city consumers and farmers.

On this website we invite you to explore the origins of the food in your kitchen in a fun and informative way and as you do, perhaps learn a little about the lives of the families who work the land.

By running the mouse over the above image of the kitchen, you can click on the fridge, the pantry, the fruit bowl and the toaster and up will pop pictures, videos and information on the produce and the farming families.

If you'd like to go straight to a map of the NSW farming regions, simply click on the Discover NSW Farming Regions banner.

ABOUT PHILLIP HUGHES
Phillip Hughes speaks about growing up on a farm
G'day, my name is Phillip Hughes and I'm an ambassador for the 'Families needing Farmers' campaign. I'm going to do all I can to help to bridge the divide between city folk and the farm.

I was born and raised in the small northern New South Wales coastal town of Macksville. As the son of a banana farmer, I know exactly what it's like to live on a farm.

I can't think of any place better to grow up - take one step outside the door, and you're in the ultimate kid's playground. There is so much space to play whatever games you can dream of. Actually, I think if I hadn't been raised on a farm, I wouldn't be the cricketer I am today.
